The game was fan funded through Kickstarter with more than $770,000 raised to support the project. It was first released in 2013 on the PC as an episodic series. The console version encompasses both episodes of the original PC version along with several enhancements including additional animations, improved audio, an interface designed for consoles, and gameplay improvements.

“We were enormously flattered by the passion of fans who asked for the fifth Broken Sword game to come to console. Broken Sword games have had a hugely successful history on previous PlayStation and Xbox consoles, so we are particularly excited that Broken Sword 5 – the Serpent’s Curse is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” says Charles Cecil, CEO of Revolution Software, who is publishing the game.

The Broken Sword franchise is one of the most popular adventure franchises having sold over 10 million copies worldwide to date. Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse is downloadable through the Xbox Games Store and PlayStation Network (starting next week). It retails for $29.99.
