Let’s Play GoldenEye 007: Revisiting the Dam Level

GoldenEye 007 was a groundbreaking first-person shooter on the Nintendo 64 when it first came out in 1997. It still holds up surprisingly well eighteen years later with its varied mission-based gameplay, stealth elements and smart level design — not to mention the best split screen multi-player of the 90s. In many ways, GoldenEye laid the foundation for modern shooters.

The N64 game is based on the James Bond movie of the same name, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. What better way to honor the film than to play through the game that turned a generation of gamers onto the Bond franchise in the first place?

We start things off with the dam level in the former Soviet Union. MI6 has confirmed the existence of a chemical weapons lab, including highly lethal nerve gas that has been finding its way into the hands of terrorists. Bond and fellow 00 agent Alec Trevelyan are tasked with eliminating the threat. Check out our playthrough below:
