Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4

Developer: Neversoft
Publisher: Activision
Release Date: October 23, 2002
Also On: GCN, PS2 & Xbox

Activision and Neversoft have come up with another top 10 seller. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 was released at the end of October and was on most peoples’ Christmas lists. With new and more complicated goals, Tony 4 will surely look to turn some heads.

The game is easy to learn for the advanced Tony Hawk players who started playing the Tony Hawk series from square one. Newcomers may find some difficulty in the beginning, but will catch on pretty quickly. All and all, Tony Hawk 4 hasn’t changed in controls from the original series making players feel right at home.

The graphics on Tony Hawk 4 are remarkable. The characters are the best they have been in a Tony Hawk game. When the players fall, you can even see scrapes on their battered and bruised bodies. The board loses its graphic from the board sliding too much. The levels are bigger and more expansive but they could use a little more detail in some areas.

The people you interact with in the level need a lot of work however. They have weak graphics and no detail whatsoever. They are alright but they are kind of PS One quality. We don't like those on next-gen consoles do we fellow Game Freaks?

The sound as like most Tony Hawk games: pretty weak. The soundtrack is a horrible mix of old rock songs that most people won't appeal to. Luckily for Xbox players, they can use their own soundtrack in the game. The only good point in the sound are the landing and grinding effects. But that’s really it. Tony has never been a master game for sound.

Die hard Tony fans will really enjoy this game. Newcomers and other extreme type players will like it too. Tony Hawk is a fun game to play no matter what age. THPS4 is an action-sports player's dream.

This game will be played over and over by you and your friends. The game is difficult to beat entirely and will keep you coming back for more. But once Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 is released, nobody will be playing the lonely Tony 4. Enjoy this game before it becomes out of date with the newer version.
