Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is a military simulator that requires strategy, planning, and good aim. Your squad members will die in most cases, even if you try to save them, because of the great A.I.
The game fits perfectly for those 2 million Halo players out there. The controls are almost an exact replica of it. The key point is to position your troops which is hard because you need to do it a very strategic way. This game requires a lot of thinking, something most people don't like to when they pop in a video game. But the game itself is fun to play.
The graphics are improved from the PC version to the Xbox. The vast levels have massive detail on player models, guns, enemies, and houses. You see blood pour out of a wounded soldier, making it seem like you're right there.
You can hear planes roar in the sky and birds chirping in the background. The gun sounds were recorded in open fields and sound terrific. You can hear people talking to each other as you sneak around, so you know when soldiers are near. The sound is great for this kind of game.
There is only one other game that is exactly like Ghost Recon, and that is SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs on the rival PS2. This is the Xbox's counter to SOCOM, though a watered-down version of Ghost Recon is also available on the GCN & PS2. People who like to use strategic maneuvers to get through a game, this is the type of game you should pick up, now. The game has 15 missions with many unlockables. Ghost Recon has 20 hours of game play, matching SOCOM.
