NBA Street

Developer: NuFX Publisher: EA Sports
Release Date: February 19, 2002 Also On: GCN & PS2

EA Sports Big starts off with an instant hit in NBA Street. This game is sort of a trip down memory lane with games like NBA Jam and NBA Hangtime looming around in history. The game plays 3 on 3 and offers a vast amount of street moves and tricks that look amazing.

The graphics on NBA Street are pretty good in most ways. One of the biggest problems it has however is that it has a lot of blurred and slowed reaction time on the tricks and moves pulled off in the game. The courts and the environment around it however look fantastic. This does not help out the cause though.

The game has hip hop beats and lame/ super annoying commentary that you will be turning off after only playing a single game. The sound is lame and flat like things that you would see on the ps1 or n64. If anything in the sound is good, it would be the menu music. Even that isn?t that great but it is better than anything else in the sound department of this game.

NBA Street is just like a remake of the classic NBA Jam or NBA Hangtime. IF anything it just really ticked off the makers of these games into coming back into the gaming world. This is definitely true with NBA Jam which a new version of the game which will be coming out in the near future.

Street is relatively an easy game to play. The AI can extremely easy or difficult depending on what setting you put it on. The moves are done with a combination of 3 buttons and they are easy enough to learn. Other then that, NBA Street plays like any other basketball game out there and puts other players into the comfort zone with the handling.

Overall, NBA Street is an incredibly deep game. It has a great Franchise/Season mode that gives you different types of players and cheats for the created team you get off the bat. If you even start to get into this game and like it, you will find plenty here to get your moneys worth.
