When I first saw iWin.com, I could have sworn they were going to spam me, or install adware, spyware, or something, but just for the record, there is none of that. It is totally adware/spyware-free. As for the game, it is fairly straight-forward. It boots up and you have the choice of either Single or Multi-player modes, as well as an Options menu.
In single-player mode you don’t have to buzz in, because there is no opposing team. You are competing against the average Joe. The game compares your scores to the averaged players’ score. You answer question after question until the round is over, and you find out if you are smarter than “normal�. This of course gets repetitive rather quickly, but to the game’s credit, it has a massive number of questions. The site says it has over 2,000, and I believe it because in reviewing this game, I never got the same question more than once.
Multi-player mode is more like the game show itself. Player one uses the left shift button as their buzzer and player two uses the right shift button. Each “family� has its own name, and it functions pretty much exactly like you would expect. You get a question, the first one to buzz in gets to answer, then they can choose to play or pass, and the winner at the end gets to play the fast money round. The one single thing this game lacks that would really make it a great game to have is online play. If you are going to have a downloadable version of Family Feud with multiplayer, the least you could do is add some online functionality.
Speaking of online, one small (large) bug I noticed while playing the game is that if the game window loses focus, it pauses. It pauses the timers, too. So if you are stumped on a question, you can open up Google and search for an answer, which could lead to inaccurate results on the online “average results�.
Overall, Family Feud is a very basic, clean, and simple rendition of the classic game show with enough questions to keep you busy for a long time. The only downfall is really the lack of online play, and the fact that there are no images of the families, or the audience, host, etc.; only pretty menu images. If you like the show for the personality, or for the competition, this probably isn’t the game for you, but if you like Family Feud for the questions, I would recommend this game.
