Elden Ring has many NPCs that players instantly took a liking to, either because of their appearance or their personality – and sometimes both. Here are our picks for the ten most popular Elden Ring characters. This list isn’t ranked in any order and it will include both female and male characters.
Melina
Melina is one of the first friendly characters you will come across. She’s also a major character in the story and she serves as the Tarnished’s maiden. While many players were first attracted to her because of her appearance, some lost interest because she didn’t appear as much as a character like that should’ve in a game. While FromSoft really could’ve made her a more engaging and compelling character, there’s no denying that she’s indeed still loved by the community.

Rya
Rya is the character who introduces you to the Volcano Manor and she’s really friendly. While there are some secrets about her, they don’t make her any less loveable. In fact, she became even more popular among many players after they learned more about her. Her quest is also very enjoyable and I consider it to be one of the best in the game.
Ranni the Witch
Ranni the Witch is another character you meet relatively early on in the game. At first glance, it doesn’t seem like she’s an important character. But as you progress the game, you’ll uncover that she’s really significant to the history and lore of the Lands Between. While she definitely is the most popular character in Elden Ring, there are some that dislike her. I highly suggest completing her side quest which leads to one of the most popular endings in the game. Then you’ll be able to decide whether she’s good or bad.
Blaidd
Blaidd is a character that conjoins with Ranni’s questline and he just might be the most popular male character in the game. He’s a half-wolf, meaning that he’s like a hybrid between a wolf and a man. He was inspired by the fan-favorite anime/manga character Guts from Berserk. Despite his tall stature and somewhat mean look, he’s really friendly and kind. You can read more about the story of Blaid in our lore article.
6. Fia
Fia was instantly loved by players mainly because she offers to hug them out of the blue. After learning more about her though, some players disliked her. But she’s still one of the most popular characters in the game. You learn that she isn’t really a bad person nor villainous as you progress through her quest. Like many characters in the game, she’s one that does what she thinks is right.
5. Miriel, Pastor of Vows
Miriel is one of my personal favorite characters in the entire game. He’s a turtle who wears a pope hat. Because of the trend where players started calling turtles “dog”, Miriel gained the name “Dog Pope”. That’s what many players refer to him as. In fact, if you search for “Dog Pope Elden Ring” the results will show him. He’s a really helpful character. From learning about the lore to learning incantations and sorceries together, he stays with the player until the very end of the game.
4. Alexander, Warrior Jar
Alexander is one of the most heroic warriors in the game. He’s basically a battle brother to you and encounters with him are loved by players. His quest is also very well written. I’m sure that I don’t need to tell you to explore the massive world of Elden Ring. You’ll definitely need to do so if you wish to meet this fascinating being.
3. General Radahn
The most beloved boss character for many players, General Radahn is an absolute tank. His boss fight is basically a huge party for warriors. Instead of drinks and snacks, you engage in bloody battle that will result in your death or the General’s death.

Lore-wise, he’s one of the most fascinating characters and despite his looks, he’s a really good person. Not only the players but also his army love him very much.
2. Nepheli Loux
This warrior is one of the strongest characters in the game, both mentally and physically. She can also be crowned as the Lady of Limgrave and there really isn’t anyone else that suits that position except her. She has a strong sense of what’s right and wrong and that’s one reason why she’s so loved; the other being her appearance.
1. Malenia
While her boss fight is either loveable or hateable, the character is very fascinating. She does seem like a villainous at first, and she sometimes is. But then again, so is Radahn. What’s loveable about her is her love for her brother, Miquella. She’s such a tragic character, lore-wise and while her boss fight could’ve been a little less frustrating, she’s nonetheless a great character.
