In the tactical RPG Marvel’s Midnight Suns from Firaxis Games, you’ll get to see the darker side of the Marvel universe.
After the announcement of the game last month, which was discussed here on Game Freaks 365, the global premiere of Marvel’s Midnight Suns gameplay has been revealed by 2k. We received an exciting peek at the new title tactical combat built by Firaxis Game, as well as a new side to iconic Marvel characters as players embark on an amazing adventure that delves deep into the darkest side of Marvel Entertainment’s universe.
Live the dark side of the Marvel Universe with Hunter
In Marvel’s Midnight Suns, players take on the position of the Hunter – the first customizable original hero in the Marvel Universe, resurrected from a centuries-long slumber to command the Midnight Suns, which includes characters from the Avengers, X-Men, Runaways, and more.
Each day in Marvel’s Midnight Suns begins with the Hunter at the Abbey, the final safe haven from Lilith’s demonic influence and the player’s very own hidden magical stronghold. Players will be able to freely roam around the Abbey in a third-person “over-the-shoulder” view and welcome their fellow heroes before starting on quests.
“We’re thrilled to work with Marvel to create Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Not only is this a sensational, original direction for Firaxis, we also have a rewarding partnership with Marvel in telling new stories in their world,” said Steve Martin, Studio President at Firaxis Games.
Superheroes with a Firaxis Games touch
Marvel’s Midnight Suns boasts a unique, exciting and deeply configurable fighting system that rewards intelligent thinking with Super Hero flair. In Firaxis’ new game, players pick up to three heroes to bring into a fight and all hero powers are portrayed through cards.
Each hero, including the Hunter, has a unique deck of cards that can be arranged and customized to fit the player’s preferences and playstyle. In addition to cards, players will be able to use their surroundings to their advantage as they shove, leap, and smash their way to victory.
“In Marvel’s Midnight Suns, you aren’t learning how to fight or gradually grow stronger. You and your fellow heroes are already legends, and must combine everything in your arsenal to stop Lilith,” said Jake Solomon, Creative Director at Firaxis.
“Cards provide a new and refreshing way to approach tactics, allowing us to really go all-out in designing a combat system that makes every hero feel, look, and play differently,” he added.
Following today’s initial reveal of gameplay, Firaxis will provide a deeper look at combat on September 7 through a live broadcast. Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be released in March 2022 on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
