7 Games Like Doom

7 Games Like Doom

DOOM and DOOM Eternal are two of the best first-person shooter games ever. Here are seven games like DOOM that are fast-paced, chaotic, and fun.

The entries on this list are FPS games, and I tried my best to include games that have many similarities to DOOM. However, most FPS games are cover-based and not very fast-paced. So all the games on this list might not be directly similar to DOOM. But hopefully, you’ll find the games in the list interesting and worth checking out.

F.E.A.R.

If you’re familiar with my previous articles, you might know that I’m a big fan of this 2005 classic FPS. F.E.A.R. is a great psychological/supernatural horror game with gunplay that stands out to this day. It’s a very inspirational game to many FPS games. For example, the project Trepang2 is directly inspired by F.E.A.R. and you can play its demo for free on Steam.

Bulletstorm

Bulletstorm

Bulletstorm is an absolute wonder of an FPS game and it deserves much more recognition. The gunplay and the destruction of the game are just wonderful and addictive. It’s so action-packed and there are moments in the game that makes your jaw drop. This game deserves a sequel too because its fans would love more chaotic and action-packed combat. At least I would love a sequel.

Wolfenstein: The New Order and The New Colossus

The Wolfenstein games, including the two games in the title and the spin-off “The Old Blood” all deserve your attention if you loved DOOM. You’ll be happy to know that this game’s soundtrack was done by Mick Gordon himself. He’s the genius who made the badass soundtrack to DOOM and DOOM Eternal.

Wolfenstein: The New Order and The New Colossus

Wolfenstein is a quintessential DOOM-like game and it has very fast-paced gunplay and chaotic action. Don’t miss these games! Also, the most recent Wolfenstein Youngblood might be worth your time as well, but it’s not as good as the previous games.

Shadow Warrior Trilogy

All three Shadow Warrior games have very satisfying gunplay. The first two games are exceptionally good. I consider the third and most recent game to be the weakest entry, but it’s decent as well.

Shadow Warrior 2

Shadow Warrior 2 is probably the best game in the series. It has collectibles and explorable environments like in DOOM, and its humor is so amusing as well. There’s a multitude of powers and guns to destroy your enemies with, and this game is as fun as it gets.

Rage 1 and 2

Rage 1 and 2

Both RAGE games had wonderful and satisfying gunplay, but these aren’t really great games overall. Don’t let that discourage you, though. Because these games are really fun, even with their flaws. RAGE 2 was really not a very likable game because of its extremely weak story, but the gunplay was just top-notch. I personally prefer the first game because of its gritty setting and heavy gunplay mechanics. Check both of these titles out!

Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2

Surely, you must’ve heard of Valve’s wonderful Left 4 Dead 2. It was a stepping stone for many co-op games to come. This 2009 game is still as fun as it was years ago. The amount of carnage and destruction you can cause to zombies is godly. It’s very cheap on Steam, too, so there’s no reason not to play this gem. During sales, you can buy both Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 for a few bucks. Don’t miss this one!

Oh, also, the recent Back 4 Blood is worth checking out if you love L4D2.

Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is one of the best FPS games ever, and this is not an exaggeration. The single-player campaign was short but beautiful, and it deserves much more attention and praise than it gets. It’s fast-paced, chaotic, and destructive; that’s just what you expect from a game like DOOM.

Titanfall 2

Granted, it’s not completely similar to DOOM, but you’ll be missing out on an FPS masterpiece if you skip this game! The popular free-to-play battle royale game Apex Legends is set in the same universe as Titanfall 2 as well. It would be awesome if we could have another Titanfall game.
