Angry Birds is back once again.
With the full release of Angry Birds Journey, iconic mobile game company Rovio brings the series back once again. After a six-year hiatus, the legendary slingshot mechanism reappears in Journey. The game had a soft launch in select regions last year, but now it is available in all regions.
Angry Birds Journey is unquestionably a contemporary Angry Birds experience, a casual puzzle game that can be picked up and played at any moment. The game is accessible and enjoyable, with a plot and a large gaming area for players to explore.
This new game leads the birds to the furthest reaches of their universe in pursuit of enigmatic egg-shaped relics known as the Egg Wonders. Before the piggies get to them, the flock must find and activate these potent artifacts.
“The love for the original slingshot gameplay is still strong after 12 years. Today, with the global launch of Angry Birds Journey, we’re happy to present to players an all-new Angry Birds experience that puts the slingshot at center stage,” said Alex Pelletier-Normand, CEO of Rovio Entertainment.
“Although much different from the classic games in its updated and streamlined gameplay, Angry Birds Journey is filled with the same satisfying gameplay and the same iconic characters that have defined the Angry Birds games over the years. We believe Angry Birds Journey has something to love for long-time Angry Birds fans, but is also more accessible and thus a great entry point for those who have never experienced the classic slingshot games,” he added.
More Rovio projects are on the way
In addition, the Netflix-exclusive animated series Angry Birds: Summer Madness will premiere on January 28. Rovio has also stated that a fresh recreation of the original Angry Birds game is in the works. The franchise will surely have a strong year in 2022.
Angry Birds Journey is now available on Android and iOS devices via Google Play and the App Store.
