Animal Crossing: New Horizons sells more than 3.6 million copies in Japan alone

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

It’s no secret that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become something of a phenomenon. And just to drive home the point, the game has sold like gangbusters in Japan with no signs of slowing down.

That’s according to the latest Famitsu sales data for the week of April 13-19. The game sold nearly 300,000 units for the week, lifting its lifetime sales to over 3.6 million in Japan. By comparison, the second-place game – Final Fantasy VII Remake – sold just over 70,000 units for the week.
