Apple Arcade has a new, cheaper annual subscription option

Apple Arcade

When Apple Arcade launched earlier this fall, the subscription service cost $4.99 a month. Now Apple is also introducing a $49.99 annual subscription option.

If you were to pay monthly, Apple Arcade would come to $59.88 a year. In comparison, the new annual subscription option will save you $10. Or put another way, for the same cost of ten standalone months, the annual subscription gives you two months free. Considering the lineup of high-quality mobile games, that’s a pretty good deal.

A steady stream of games has come to Arcade since its September launch. We’ve covered many of them including Sonic Racing, ChuChu Rocket Universe, Cardpocalypse, Shinsekai: Into the Depths, Mosaic, and Rayman Mini.

Unlike Google Stadia – which requires a speedy internet connection to stream games to existing phones, tablets, and other supported devices – the Apple Arcade requires users to download games to an Apple-made device, such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV.

If you are an existing Arcade subscriber, you can switch to the cheaper annual plan. You’ll need to navigate to the subscriptions menu in the App Store. Apple’s website isn’t showing the annual subscription yet for new subscribers, but we presume that it should be updated soon.
