Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered brings back the early 2000s

Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered

Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered is out today on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The remastered version of this 2003 action-adventure title features updated graphics, new game modes, and more.

Microids says that there is a remastered soundtrack, revamped animations, and “enhanced” gameplay. Additionally, all of the improvements can be adjusted in the settings menu, providing a customized experience.

Players are able to switch between the two Gauls as they see fit. “Whether they use Obelix’s strength or Asterix’s agility, they’ll have to make the best use of each character’s abilities to complete their mission,” Microids says.

New game modes

On top of the enhancements to graphics and sound, the remaster has four new game modes. They include:

  • The “Obstacle course” mode to challenge players’ agility;
  • The “Against the clock” mode for speed lovers;
  • The “Extreme” mode for the bravest Gauls looking for a difficult challenge;
  • The “Retro” mode, allowing players to switch between the original graphics and the remastered version.

Lastly, there are four different skins for our two heroes: Gauls, Pirate, Bathing Outfit, and Legionary. So you can play the remaster with a custom look.

Asterix & Obelix XXL was originally released on PlayStation 2 in 2003 in Europe and 2004 in North America. It was later ported to PC and GameCube in Europe. A Game Boy Advance version was also developed. Asterix & Obelix is based on the French comic Asterix about Gaulish warriors.
