Backbone is a noir adventure with an anthropomorphic raccoon detective

The upcoming noir adventure game Backbone is set in a dystopian, alternate universe Vancouver. You play as Howard Lotor, a private detective looking for a missing person. Howard is a raccoon, by the way.

Backbone blends RPG elements with branching dialogue with classic PC adventure games delivered in a modern pixel art style. Also, there is an original dark jazz soundtrack.

The game “explores mature themes in a city of anthropomorphic animals where species dictates social class,” developer EggNut says. “Sniff out clues and evidence, interrogate a diverse cast of characters, solve stealth puzzles, and choose which leads to follow.”

Unfortunately, the game is not coming to PC and consoles until early 2021. However, there is a free demo already available. Backbone: Prologue follows Howard through the first act of the game. To date, the demo has been downloaded over 130,000 times.
