Battlefield 2 Sells 1.2 Million Copies

Electronic Arts today announced that, based on internal sell-in data, Battlefield 2 has sold more than 1.2M copies worldwide. Developed by Digital Illusions, the Battlefield franchise has now sold over 7.2M copies worldwide.

“The Battlefield franchise has proven to be a phenomenal hit with audiences worldwide,” said Tom Frisina, Vice President and General Manager, EA Partners. “As the sequel to one of the best loved PC action games of all time, Battlefield 2 was one of the most anticipated games of the year. Even in the face of high expectations, the game delivered on the promise of the series and raises the quality bar for future titles in the category.”

In Battlefield 2, players choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game’s 30+ vehicles or hone their skills against improved enemy intelligence in the single-player campaign before competing online with up to 64 players in some of the most intense battles on the PC.
