Best Buy Opens Hancock Center Store in Downtown Chicago

Best Buy announced that they have opened their downtown Chicago location inside of the John Hancock Center, which is Chicago’s third largest skyscraper behind the Sears Tower and Trump Tower. Located at 875 N Michigan Avenue on the second floor of Hancock Center, the new Best Buy takes advantage of being on the Magnificent Mile with over 30,000 square feet of space.

“This truly is a community store,” said Monica Salamon, Best Buy general manager, “and we are excited to finally bring Best Buy to one of the world’s premiere tourist destinations.” For local residents and international travelers alike, Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is known for its world-class shopping. The newest Best Buy location is designed to appeal to the urban shopper and align aesthetically with the rest of the retail destinations along Michigan Avenue.

I was there over the weekend and I have to say that it could not be at a more convenient location for tourists visiting downtown Chicago. It is at the heart of the shopping district where there are plenty of high end clothing, shoe and jewelry stores, but electronics is limited to the Apple Store and a Radio Shack. It might not be an ideal place to buy a new flat panel tv, but for those that want to purchase a digital camera while they ride to the 94th floor to the observatory, the Hancock Center store is a welcome addition to the city.
