While many games in the industry have serious and grim themes, there are a lot of titles that are lighthearted and comedic. Games like that are a nice and welcome change. Here are ten great comedic video games. This list is not ranked in any particular order.
Yakuza 0
While Yakuza 0’s main story is rather grim and sad, the gameplay side is very goofy and often hilarious. You may have seen Yakuza memes and videos with no context, and they are quite funny. Every game of this franchise has silly side content and missions, and they never get old.
For example in Yakuza 0, there’s an entire substory where Kiryu delivers a pizza through the city of Kamurocho… Because of that pizza, a lot of trouble occurs and Kiryu says “Samantha’s in trouble. And it’s all because of my pizza…” This entire franchise is absolutely a must-play for any gamer.
Saints Row: The Third
Saints Row: The Third is probably the most popular game in the series, and that’s for a good reason. You probably have heard of these games because all games in the franchise, except the newest release, have a unique take on humor. Sometimes it might seem like the game tries too hard to be funny, but that doesn’t stop it from being an insanely hilarious and fun experience. This game might be too offensive for some people though.
Fallout: New Vegas
Fallout New Vegas tackles some deep topics and the story is quite political and even philosophical. The Fallout franchise is known for its dark humor and funny dialogue, and many consider New Vegas to be the game to have the most hilarious and goofy dialogue options.

Postal 2
Postal 2 is a very controversial game, to say the least. A lot of people might find this game too offensive and often too violent, but Postal 2 has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam for a reason. This game lets you do insanely hostile but hilarious things that will make some people sick but will make a lot of people laugh maniacally. Also, it’s very cheap on Steam.

Grand Theft Auto V
Every gamer has played a Grand Theft Auto game at some point in their lives and there’s a good chance that they absolutely loved it. For this entry, let’s focus on GTA V which is the latest release so far. San Andreas is filled with hilarious events and weird characters. The game’s story has some of the best jokes in gaming history.
Almost all of the jokes in GTA V are very explicit though, so play it at your own risk. Offensive jokes and insults are everywhere in this game since the start. If you haven’t played any other entries of this franchise, you really should. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for the upcoming GTA game, Grand Theft Auto VI.
Borderlands 2
Borderlands 2 is another game that has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam, and that’s thanks to its marvelous story, hilarious jokes, and brilliant characters. The Borderlands franchise’s cartoony art style is beloved by many gamers, and in this goofy but beautiful world, there are tons and tons of silly characters and secret stories to be uncovered.
Also, no one can forget the insane but loveable villain Handsome Jack. He’s a dangerous man, but there’s no denying that his sense of humor is out of this world… literally. The other entries of the franchise are worth your time as well because you can learn a lot about the games’ lore by playing all of them.
Deadpool
Surely you know what to expect from a Deadpool game. It’s violent, brutal, silly, and extremely funny. You play as the fan-favorite Marvel character, Deadpool. If you have seen the movies, you know how much of a crazy hero he is.
He makes very explicit jokes and even insults the player sometimes. For example, if you use a shotgun, he will say “Seriously? A Shotgun? Can’t you be more of a noob?” Or something along those lines. Deadpool is an underrated game, so give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Shadow Warrior
Shadow Warrior was a pioneering member of the gaming industry. It was first released in the 1990s and was loved by many. The franchise was rebooted in 2013 with Shadow Warrior. Other than its obvious improvements in the graphics and gameplay departments, the voice-acted character makes some hilarious jokes and remarks throughout the game.
These jokes are clever and will keep a smile on the player’s face. There are currently three Shadow Warrior games, and the first and the second games are the best. The third was… okay but not as good as the others. Be mindful that these games contain very explicit imagery and jokes.
Bully
Bully was another beloved game made by Rockstar, and it is still being played by countless players throughout the world. You play as a 15-year-old boy in the school Bullworth Academy. As the game’s title suggests, there is bullying in this game… a lot of bullying.
Despite being a game set in a school, and the character is a teenager, the game is just as explicit as the GTA games. Some actions that you can perform in this game are controversial, to say the very least. In any case, there’s a high chance that you will get a good laugh out of this.
Goat Simulator
In Goat Simulator, you play as a handsome-looking goat who is invincible. This rather cute goat is probably the devil incarnate because he can cause more damage to people than a nuclear war does. There are no clear objectives in the game but secrets to discover and chaos to cause.
This game is beloved by a huge portion of the gaming community. The things you can do are absurd. You can cause accidents that will result in huge explosions. The goat can attach its tongue to objects and drag them throughout the map. Surely, those examples give you a clear idea of how absurd and hilarious Goat Simulator is.
