While most games are based on combat mechanics, there aren’t many games that get vehicular combat just right. There are titles that nail it perfectly though. Here are some of the best games with vehicular combat. The list is ranked in no particular order. For this list, I only included land-based vehicular combat.
An obvious pick for a list like this, many consider Mad Max to be the ultimate vehicular combat game. It was released in 2015. Unfortunately, it’s still underrated all these years later.
Mad Max is set in an unforgiving open-world wasteland, and the player needs to upgrade his car and make it into the perfect war machine. There’s also a satisfying melee combat system that will keep the players engaged.
It would be a travesty to write an article about the best games with vehicular combat and not list Halo. In fact, Halo: Combat Evolved practically introduced vehicular combat to modern console games. Yes, you can go back to the tank in GoldenEye 007 and a few older games, but Halo refined it and did it well – very well. Halo Infinite is no exception, although the earlier games were the real pioneers. Of course, Halo also does aerial combat exceptionally well, but the ground-based vehicles are what we are focused on here.
Batman: Arkham Knight
The last entry of the brilliant Batman Arkham franchise, many players consider Arkham Knight to be the most polished title from the franchise. With the inclusion of Batman’s iconic beast, the Batmobile, the player is able to engage in thrilling, destructive high-speed chases in a tank-like vehicle. Needless to say, it is a ton of fun!
RAGE and RAGE 2
Many consider the RAGE games to be lackluster in comparison to many other games released at the same time. But both these games have managed to include great vehicular combat systems. There are a lot of upgrades you can get for your rides, and the combat is mostly based on gunfire and missiles.
Another underrated gem, Sleeping Dogs has managed to gain a cult-like following. You play as Wei Shen, an undercover policeman infiltrating the Hong Kong Triad gangs. People compare this to the Grand Theft Auto games a lot. There’s a multitude of cars to choose from and you can even jump from vehicle to vehicle midst of high-speed chases.

Burnout Paradise is a full-blown racing game that allows the player from engaging in extremely destructive and fast races. There are a ton of stunts to perform around the world. If you’re into dangerous and over-the-top racing, this is the game for you. Check out Burnout Paradise Remastered for the best experience.
