Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong is where things really start to diverge. At this point, the game expects you to have a basic understanding of how the combat works and so this is the first chapter where you’ll start fending off multiple bosses, one after another. The bosses themselves are extremely fun to fight, and if you want to take them all, this article is for you!

We will be taking a look at each of the bosses in Chapter 2: Yellow Sand, Desolate Dusk and how to get to them, so buckle up cause it’s going to be a long ride.

Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw

This yellow-toned frog is most likely who you’ll face first in Chapter 2. Resting in a small pond, you can find this giant amphibian by starting from the first Keeper’s Shrine you find in Sandgate Village (Called Village Entrance). From there, drop down to the right and keep heading down the path until you see an NPC who goes by the name of Xu Dog. He’ll initiate a quest that will require you to take down Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw and, conveniently enough, you’ll find the frog up ahead.

Black Myth has quite a lot of these frog bosses, and this one in particular specializes in electricity. To avoid most of his frustrating attacks, make sure you stay up close and personal during the fight, so that he can’t do his annoying electric moves that are extra bothersome in the water and you should be good to go.

King and Second Prince of Flowing Sands

The first major boss of Chapter 2 is actually a duo boss which we found hilarious. Called the King of Flowing Sands and the Second Prince of Flowing Sands, you might be inclined to think that the King is the big, overgrown rat with a Mace twice the size of his head. But on the contrary, that’s the Second Prince and the King is the scrawny, little one that’ll keep throwing rocks at you.

To get to this duo boss, you’ll first have to defeat the Siamese twin Rat Captain that you’ll find by following the main path from the “Village Entrance” shrine. After defeating the Rat Captain, open the huge double door in front of you and you’ll find this wacky father-son combo waiting for you.

Earth Wolf

Finding the Earth Wolf boss can be a bit tricky. It’s another one that will require you to start from the Village Entrance shrine as well. From there, take a right and follow that path until you find a large open area patrolled by two Rat Captains. Once you clear them out, take the left path until you find a small entrance on the left side of the wall.

After heading through the small entrance, you’ll find the Earth Wolf waiting for you in a big open area, perfect for fighting an agile enemy like this.

As expected for the big brother of the Second Prince, the First Prince is possibly twice the size and far more intimidating to look at. To find him, start from the shrine you unlock from defeating the King and Second Prince (Valley of Despair). You’ll see a small cave, so head towards that and you’ll find the First Prince waiting for you down there.

Tiger Vanguard

A big, beefy tiger on steroids that’s chilling in a pool of blood? You know he’s there to mess you up. But first, you have to find him and you’ll do so by starting from the Valley of Despair shrine again. Head inside the cave again and this time, go for the far end and you’ll see an opening. Go inside and take a right to find the Crouching Tiger Temple. Naturally, the Tiger Vanguard will be waiting for you once you head up the stairs.

After beating the Tiger Vanguard, follow the path beyond the Crouching Tiger Temple, and you’ll find yourself in the Yellow Wind Formation. Keep going down the main path and you’ll find a bridge with the Tiger’s Acolyte waiting for you.

Stone Vanguard

To find this big hunk of sentient rock formation, go right from the Valley of Despair shrine and keep progressing through the long path, through the Fright Cliff area and you’ll eventually find the Stone Vanguard waiting for you. Both the Tiger and Stone Vanguard are crucial for you to access a big portion of this chapter, so we hope you’re leveled up enough to take them on!

Gore-Eye Daoist

There’s actually two ways you can reach this creepy, Bloodborne-esque boss and one of them is by unlocking the main door in the Valley of Despair shrine. You can do so by gathering both the Sterness of Stone and Keeness of Tiger items from the Stone and Tiger Vanguard respectively. Keep following the path inside and you’ll find the Gore-Eye Daoist after a bridge.

The other way is by progressing through the area after the Stone Vanguard. Take a right at the end of that road and you’ll find yourself slipping and sliding through a sand slide while dodging arrows from rats above. Fun! At the end of the slide, the Gore-Eye Daoist will be waiting for you past the bridge and up the hill.

Mother of Stones

The Mother of Stones is the boss that you must fight for the Man-in-Stone questline. To get to her, start from the Rockrest Flat shrine, head inside the cave and take the path on the right. Keep going up this road and you’ll see a glowing formation of rocks which is the mother herself. To initiate the fight, simply attack the formation and she’ll come to life. Make sure you take out the surrounding enemies to have an easier time, though.

Man-in-Stone

After you defeat the Mother of Stones and return to the Man-in-Stone to give him the good news, he’ll end up revealing that he just wanted the Stone Essence for himself. He won’t attack you unless you attack him but he still counts as a boss regardless, hence his name on this list.

But to find him in the first place, start from the Squall Hideout shrine and head down to the lower areas. You’ll find him speaking once you’re almost down there so you can follow the voice and find him in the corner, ready to give you his quest.

Shigandang

The Shigandang is an optional boss that you can fight after finding the six Buddha eyes scattered across the Fright Cliff region. His location is actually the exact same as the Stone Vanguard, so after you find all six eyes, simply head back there and you’ll find him waiting for you.

To find the six eyes, listen for the eerie humming sounds as you explore the region and you should be able to find severed Buddha statue heads from which you can gather the eyes. They’re quite hard to miss.

Mad Tiger

An easily missable boss that requires you to finish the Old Rattle-Drum questline. You obtain the Old Rattle-Drum after beating the Tiger’s Acolyte. By playing the drum in three specific locations, you will be able to interact with the spirit of a child who will lead you to this boss fight. The three locations are as follows:

  • At Windrest Hamlet, head to the village with lots of corpses and go towards the large gate. Once you’re past the gate, take a left and you’ll find a desaturated and misty area where you’ll be able to use the Old Rattle-Drum.
  • From the Windseal Gate shrine, go into the ruined village again and across the wooden bridge. Take a left turn from here to find yet another misty area where you can use the Old Rattle-Drum.
  • From the Valley Entrance shrine, cross the wooden bridge and past the gate you previously opened before. Take a left and head inside the small area where it’ll turn gray again, indicating that you can use the Old Rattle-Drum.

Yellow-Robed Squire

First appearing as a drunk NPC, he’ll also unlock 3 new bosses including himself if you finish his questline.

Finding him is pretty easy if you’ve beaten the Stone vanguard, as he’s resting in the area right beside it on Rockrest Flat shrine.

Tiger Vanguard (Secret)

This Tiger Vanguard is not the same as the one you’ve fought before and will only appear after you head through the door that unlocks after you beat the Yellow-Robed Squire. He’s considerably easier than the one you fight before, so don’t worry too much about facing a similar foe again!

Fuban

The last boss that unlocks after beating the Yellow-Robed Squire, you can find him by interacting with the Yellow Wind Sage as he waits for you on top of a hill that you’ll find after beating the secret Tiger Vanguard boss fight.

We highly recommend fighting this boss before taking on the main final boss in this chapter, as you’ll obtain a Vessel that will make the final fight exceptionally easier to tackle.

Yellow Wind Sage

The final boss of this list and in this chapter, is the Yellow Wind Sage. He’s the one that will help you out in the fight against Fuban, and it’s the Vessel you obtain after winning that fight that will help you against the Sage’s annoying wind attacks.

To find him, interact with the Tally in the area where you fought the first Tiger Vanguard and progress through the Cellar region until you find a large desert area. You’ll find him waiting for you at the heart of the storm.

Alternatively, you can also access the same area by progressing through the Windseal Gate where you fought the Stone Vanguard and Gore-Eye Daoist.

And that concludes all the bosses included in Chapter 2. It’s quite a drastic amount compared to Chapter 1 but most of them are incredibly fun to fight as you slowly understand the mechanics and unlock new tricks along the way. We hope this article helps satiate the perfectionist in you as you take on all the bosses in every chapter for Black Myth: Wukong!
