Borderlands 3 confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X with four-player co-op

2K Games revealed at PAX Online that they are bringing Borderlands 3 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The big news is that for the first time ever in a Borderlands game, you’ll be able to play four-player split-screen. The feature is only available on next-gen consoles due to the extra horsepower that they provide.
They’re also patching the game to support vertical split-screen action. The game currently only allows you to play horizontal split-screen. This patch is available free on PS4 and Xbox One.
In addition, if you already own the current-gen version of Borderlands 3 on Xbox One, you’ll receive a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X version. And if you own the game on PlayStation 4, you’ll receive a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version.
“This applies to all content you’ve purchased, as well as all your saves,” 2K says. “You’ll be able to bring everything over to the new console generation.”
In single-player mode, the game runs at 60 frames per second at 4K resolution on both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. That’s a pretty decent upgrade for people who own the base Xbox One since the game only runs at 900p on the platform. The base PS4 version runs at 1080p.
