Nintendo is bringing back the Brain Age series for the Nintendo Switch.
Brain Age was a rather surprising hit when it was first released back in 2006, but unorthodox games did quite well on Nintendo DS. Brain Training, as it was called in Japan, became one of the best-selling games on the Nintendo DS. It helped make the DS a worldwide phenomenon, despite a strong challenge from Sony’s PSP.
The game had users solve simple math problems and other brain exercises. And the Switch version looks like it will bring back some of the classics while adding new features like support for the system’s built-in camera, online leaderboards, and the ability to track progress through your smartphone, including the progress of family and friends.
So far, Nintendo has only confirmed that Brain Age: Nintendo Switch Training is coming to Japan on December 27. Given the success of its predecessors, it’s hard to imagine that the Switch version will not also make its way to the US, perhaps as soon as 2020.
