Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 gets new Alcatraz Blackout battle royale map

Activision is releasing a new map for its Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 ‘Blackout’ mode. Located on the infamous Alcatraz Island – home to the former prison – the map introduces close-quarters battle royale combat.

“The new Blackout Alcatraz map is set in a fog-filled island boasting a variety of environments that all lead up to the big cell house atop the hill. Requiring new strategies and tactics, players will drop in, gear up and fight through both close-quarters combat and long-range exterior firefights as they battle to be the last squad standing,” the company says.

The new Alcatraz map launches alongside the original Blackout map, so players will now have two distinct maps to select from. It launches on PS4 tomorrow, April 2. PC and Xbox One will get the map at a later date.

Activision is also kicking off a free-to-play month for Blackout tomorrow. The free month ends on April 30. After that, you have to own the game to play the map. And, no, it’s not an April Fool’s Day joke, as best as we can tell. 🙂
