Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has new DLC in Operation Dark Divide, available now

The final operation for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 season, Operation Dark Divide, is out now on PS4 and coming soon to PC and Xbox One.

According to Activision, Operation Dark Divide delivers “a unique experience with content inspired by heroes and villains, while embracing the epic world of the Black Ops universe.”

The new content package contains two multiplayer maps, a new Blackout mode, and a variety of hero-themed personalization items and gear. Additionally, Treyarch will conclude the Aether storyline – one that has been more than ten years in the making and what the company calls “the most epic Zombies adventure in Black Ops history” – with Tag Der Toten.

Activision says that Operation Dark Divide’s free, new content includes new Blackout features with a fresh new comic book aesthetic. Additionally, players can now double-jump in the limited-time game mode, Heavy Metal Heroes. With Heavy Metal Heroes, “new equipment – such as flare guns and a brand-new tank vehicle – have also been added to the battlefield to help players in the ultimate Battle Royale firefight.”

Operation Dark Divide introduces a new perk and two new elixirs as players experience the final chapter of the Aether story. The Secret Shopper Elixer lets players go on an ammo shopping spree. The Power Vacuum Elixer boosts the drop rate for all power-ups for a few minutes. The new perk is called Blaze Phase. Players will be able to become a charging fireball, knocking enemies back or burning them to a crisp.

In addition to the freebies, owners of the Black Ops Pass gain access to more new content, which is available first on PS4. This includes a new multiplayer map, Lair, which is set in the lair of a mega villain.

“This medium-sized map is built around a volcano’s caldera. Players must weave around the multi-level map to strategically gain the upper hand before the volcanically powered Death Laser goes off,” Activision says.

Treyarch has also reimagined Launch from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, a medium-sized map set on a launch pad at a Soviet Cosmodrome. You’ll have to be careful not to get caught in the middle of a rocket launch during your firefights on this map.

In the Zombies experience, Tag Der Toten, the Victis Crew returns for their final outing of the Aether storyline. Activision says that “elements of the fan-favorite Call of the Dead map have been re-imagined and expanded, so players can explore new areas and solve ever increasingly difficult Easter Eggs that tell the real story.”

The Black Ops Pass is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition, the Digital Deluxe Enhanced Edition, the Pro Edition, and the Mystery Box Edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It can also be purchased standalone digitally or at retailers.

This last batch of DLC for Black Ops 4 comes just as the second weekend of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare cross-platform beta concludes.

Modern Warfare comes out on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. As we previously reported, pre-ordering the game unlocks Captain Price in Black Ops 4.

In addition to the upcoming console launch of Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Mobile launches on October 1 for Android and iOS devices.
