Call of Duty Mobile is coming to iOS and Android

Activision announced today that they are bringing the Call of Duty franchise to Android and iOS devices.

Call of Duty: Mobile is a new free-to-play game that brings together maps, modes, weapons, and characters from across the Call of Duty franchise, including Black Ops and Modern Warfare. The game will feature competitive multiplayer action across several different game modes. Among the modes announced so far are free-for-all, team deathmatch, and search and destroy.

Iconic maps from the series – such as Nuketown, Crash, and Hijacked – are featured in Call of Duty: Mobile. In addition, players will be able to unlock classic Call of Duty characters, weapons, scorestreaks, and other gear to equip and customize their loadouts.

“We are delivering the definitive, first-person action experience in a new mobile title with incredible graphics and visceral Call of Duty gameplay,” says Chris Plummer, VP of Mobile at Activision. “Together with the amazing team at Tencent, we’re bringing together a collection of the most beloved maps, competitive modes, familiar characters, and signature weapons from across this storied franchise into one epic experience for the first time on mobile.”

The game is being developed by Chinese developer Tencent. It runs on the Unity real-time 3D development platform. More details will be announced as we approach E3 in June.
