Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has beaten sales records for not just video games, but all of the entertainment industry. Modern Warfare 3 sold through more than 6.5 million units and $400 million in North America and the United Kingdom alone in the first 24 hours of its release. The past two Call of Duty games also set records upon release:. 2010’s Black Ops had estimated day-one sell-through of $360 million and 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 set day-one records with estimated sell through of $310 million.
