Call of Duty: Modern Warfare gets new maps and mode in first free DLC batch

The first free batch of DLC has landed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It includes a new mode and two new maps.

The two new maps are Shoot House and Krovnik Farmland. Shoot House is a new traditional multiplayer map. Krovnik Farmland is a Ground War map for large-scale battles.

“Visit the deserts of Urzikstan and enter a military training Shoot House facility; a tight, three-lane map packed with close-quarter combat potential. Medium-sized (perfect for 6v6 combat and a variety of game modes), expect tight corners that support a run-and-gun style of gameplay, along with a number of sightlines for medium-ranged engagements,” Activision’s David Hodgson writes on their blog.

“Once idyllic, the rural farmland of Verdansk has been pock-marked with evidence of military conflict, and the scars are visible across this Ground War map designed for battles on a massive scale. Compared to the previous maps of this size and scale, Krovnik Farmland provides a distinctly different atmosphere. Fight epic and frenetic Domination matches across a vast and undulating rural landscape, featuring farmhouses, windmills, silos, and other agricultural scenery,” Hodgson continues.

In addition to the two new maps, there is also a new game mode. Hardpoint will have you race to secure and defend a specific “hardpoint” on the map. The hardpoint will rotate several times throughout a match, so you’ll have to adjust your tactics accordingly. Your team only scores when at least one of your teammates is within the hardpoint.

The content launches today on all three platforms. It should be available right now as part of a mandatory game update. More free content and community events are still to come.
