Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s beta starts today

The beta for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare kicks off today. PS4 fans get an early look at the game’s multiplayer.

Following the completion of the recent Modern Warfare 2v2 Gunfight Open Alpha, the Modern Warfare Beta will deliver a deeper look at Modern Warfare’s multiplayer universe, including tight close-quarter 2v2 Gunfight gameplay, traditional 6v6 Multiplayer, and large-player count experiences on “massive maps featuring a wide array of vehicles.”

The beta expands in the second weekend to also include PC and Xbox One. For the first time, it will feature crossplay across PC and consoles, allowing players across platforms to play the Modern Warfare Beta together.

The PS4 Early Access Beta – which is only open to those who pre-order the game – runs on September 12 and 13. The PS4 Open Beta starts on September 14 and ends on September 16.

For the second weekend, the PC and Xbox One Early Access Beta begins on September 19 through 20 with the PS4 version in Open Beta. Then there’s an Open Beta for all platforms from September 21 through 23.

“Players will have two weekends to join in on the fun, with new content and playlists rolling out throughout the beta,” Activision says.

The beta is just a portion of the overall Modern Warfare multiplayer experience. The game will also include a single-player story campaign and an all-new Special Ops cooperative mode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is scheduled for release globally on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The fully-optimized PC version will be available exclusively on Battle.net.
