Circuit City is Back Online

A few months ago, Circuit City closed in what we thought was for good. The company announced its bankruptcy on November 10, 2008 and was liquidated not long after. The #2 American electronics retailer fell at the hands of a deep recession, with slumping consumer spending and creditors demanding their money. As it turns out Circuit City is back, at least in name.

An e-mail was sent out on Sunday to customers registered on CircuitCity.com announcing that the retailer was back in business online. Systemax, which owns TigerDirect.com, purchased Circuit City’s name, logo and website on May 19, 2009. The company has not announced if it intends on reopening store locations, but the website is already live.
