Codemasters announces F1 2021

Codemasters and EA have officially announced F1 2021.

The latest game in the beloved racing series introduces a brand-new story mode with a two-player option. Plus, there are three new circuits. Portimão, Imola, and Jeddah will be available to all players as free post-launch content.

Braking Point, the brand-new story mode

Braking Point, the game’s new story mode, takes players on an epic journey from the ranks of Formula 2 to a shot at stardom in the world of Formula 1. It also reintroduces players to the much-maligned Devon Butler, who returns after making his debut in F1 2019.

“Braking Point is an exciting innovation that has been years in the making. We are proud to expand the game experience and allow players to live the highs and lows of life in Formula 1 both on and off the track,” said Lee Mather, franchise game director at Codemasters. “Braking Point transforms the game and puts players center stage in the greatest racing spectacle on the planet.”

Two-player option

F1 2021 adds a new two-player option to its classic Career mode, allowing friends to join online, play cooperatively, select separate teams, and take rivalries to the track in synchronous race sessions. Each driver has complete control over their assists, allowing players of all skill levels to participate. Real-Season Start, which will enable players to begin at any point in the season with real-time driver and constructor standings, is also included in the Career mode.

It’s in the game

F1 2021 is the official video game of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship. This is the first time that the franchise is being published under the EA Sports label. Electronic Arts completed its $1.2 billion acquisition of Codemasters earlier this year.

Launch date

F1 2021 launches on July 16 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition will net you the Braking Point Content Pack, a collection of unique in-game items inspired by the fictional stars of the new story experience, as well as 5,000 PitCoins.

The digital Deluxe package includes seven soon-to-be-revealed legendary F1 drivers for use in My Team, complete with customization material, 18,000 PitCoins, the Braking Point Content Pack, and three days early access.

In addition, F1 2021 supports Xbox Smart Delivery and PlayStation’s free upgrade. So as players upgrade to an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5, they can bring their game with them.
