CrossfireX service closure announced, refunds available for recent purchases

CrossfireX servers are shutting down soon.

The first-person shooter CrossfireX for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S will see its servers go dark in May. The CrossfireX service closure was announced on the game’s website:

It is with the deepest regret that we are informing you of our decision to end support for CrossfireX on May 18, 2023. Since the launch of the game, we have worked tirelessly to bring it to a point where we can all be proud, and throughout it all we have had the honor and pleasure of supporting our players.

Coming to this decision was not easy. However, we can proudly say that our players have been amazingly active, passionate and enthusiastic in working with us to create a game that would be fun and enjoyable by all. We want to thank each and every one of our players for playing CrossfireX and being a part of this journey with us.

According to the developer, they are halting Xbox Store sales immediately. Anyone who purchased the game within the last two weeks is eligible for a refund. You can request a refund on the Xbox website.

CrossfireX Service Closure Announced

Although the servers will close on on May 18 for the final time, players can “enjoy all previously purchased and unlocked in-game content” until then. “We hope that you will be able to enjoy CrossfireX until the service ends and we will always be grateful for your support. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any issues by visiting our support page.”

This game had some of the worst reviews on Xbox Series X, so it is hardly a surprise that the game failed to catch on. In fact, only 3 percent of reviewers recommended the game. That’s according to OpenCritic. Of course, if you are one of the few people who enjoyed the game, this news is disappointing.
