Death Stranding 10 million players milestone reached

Kojima Productions has announced a major milestone for Death Stranding.

After Hideo Kojima and Konami parted ways, the long-time Metal Gear creator switched gears and released an entirely new game. Now it’s clear that it was a hit with gamers as the Death Stranding 10 million players milestone was reached today.

Kojima Productions announced today that the Death Stranding 10 million players milestone was reached on November 8, 2022. The milestone was reached across PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It comes three years after the launch on PS4.

Three years coming

The original game was released exclusively for PlayStation 4 consoles on November 8, 2019. The next summer, 505 Games brought the game to PC. A year later, the Death Stranding Director’s Cut was released for PC and PS5, offering players more action, expanded areas, and new missions. There’s also an official novelization.

The game is available as part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium game lineups. It was recently made available through Xbox Game Pass for PC. So the 10 million players number obviously does not represent actual game sales.

What’s next for Kojima?

Now that Death Stranding has been released (and re-released with the Director’s Cut), Kojima Productions is well on its way with its next project. In a cryptic image on their website, Kojima Productions teased their next project during Tokyo Game Show 2022.

There are virtually no details beyond the image, so fans need to sit tight until we learn more. But that doesn’t have to stop us from speculating. So head to the forums to let us know what you think Kojima is working on!
