DS, Wii Outsell Competition in Japan 5 to 1

As I pointed out in a Myspace-exclusive editorial over the weekend, the PS3 is in deep trouble. A Bloomberg report highlights this fact even more starkly than I did. According to the article, the PS3 is now getting creamed 5 to 1 against the Wii in Japan, with Wii selling 251,794 for the month of May. The Xbox 360 is doing even worse selling only 11,082 units for the entire month.

The Nintendo DS is enjoying a similar 5 to 1 lead in the handheld market over Sony’s PlayStation Portable in Japan for the month of May. Bloomberg says that Nintendo DS sold 620,670 units for the month, compared to 123,673 PSP units. That’s more domination than the Boston Red Sox over the New York Yankees this year.
