EA Sports College World Series Coming Feb. 06

The Indianapolis Star reported at the end of a long article about NCAA football in video games, that Electronic Arts will be releasing a college baseball game to challenge Take-Two’s MLB 2K series, which has an exclusive third-party agreement with the MLB. The game, expected to be released in February 2006 on unspecified consoles, will likely bear the name College World Series and use the MVP Baseball engine.

The article also talks about individual schools’ profits from the NCAA Football game. The NCAA wouldn’t say how much they were getting, but according to the Indy Star report, schools receive money based on a tier system, covering performance over the past 10 years. A spokesman for Purdue University said the school received $66,000 in licensing fees from the NCAA Football game in the 2004-05 school year.
