Everyone Agrees: Buy a Wii

There have been a plentiful amount of quotes over the past week from E3 that I couldn’t pass posting in a news article. In this battle for the hearts and minds of gamers this next-generation, it seems that everyone agrees on one thing: buy a Nintendo Wii. Executives from both Sony (PlayStation 3) and Microsoft (Xbox 360) have lashed out at their rival systems, while cuddling close to the Big N. My take: these companies should watch what they hope for, Nintendo could become the market leader…with their full support. Here’s a few examples:

“Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3?” Peter Moore, a Microsoft vice president, said. “People are going to buy two (machines.) They’re going to buy an Xbox and they’re going to buy a Wii … for the price of one PS3.” Peter Moore said in a separate interview, “I’m a huge fan of Nintendo and I love the innovation. I’m sure it’s going to be fun in a lot of games.”

“I think Peter Moore is exactly right. I think Nintendo will be the second system consumers purchase after PlayStation 3,” Sony’s Phil Harrison responded in an interview with GamePro. “I haven’t had a chance to check out the Wii myself, but Nintendo has a great history of innovation and has always done great things for gaming and long may they do so.”
