This past weekend, EVO 2022 took place. This event is known for being packed with fighting game announcements and competitions. Therefore, big companies such as Bandai Namco, Capcom, SNK and more have been present.

Surprisingly, SNK has made an announcement that has shocked retro gamers. Fatal Fury, after more than 20 years without a sequel, will finally have a new game!

The long-awaited return of Fatal Fury / Garou

Within the fighting game genre, there are few companies that have really won the hearts of gamers. Capcom, with its Street Fighter franchise, is one of them. But, for real fans of the genre, SNK has a very precious place in their hearts.

Fatal Fury Garou

Many of its franchises such as The King of Fighters, Burning Fight, Samurai Shodown and more are among the best known. But fans of the genre have been waiting for the return of a series that has been around for over 20 years: Fatal Fury. The last installment of the title, Garou: Mark of the Wolves arrived in 1999. After that, we never knew more about the possible development of a new installment.

Even so, fans of the game were still waiting for a new installment of Fatal Fury. 20 years later, SNK has announced at EVO 2022 the return of the franchise. With a small trailer that they showed at the event, and later posted on YouTube, they shared this information.

Despite the announcement, SNK did not show anything about the game’s development. Normally, when this happens in the industry, it represents that the game is still in an early stage of development. But knowing SNK, they are saving everything to surprise us later. Still, we’ll be on the lookout for any information about the next Fatal Fury / Garou. So stay tuned to Game Freaks 365!
