Final Fantasy I, II, and III Pixel Remasters coming to PC and mobile

Square Enix has announced that it is offering “Pixel Remasters” of Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, V, and VI. They are coming to PC via Steam, Android, and iOS devices.

“The pixel remaster series brings all the magic of the originals combined with quality-of-life upgrades while staying faithful to the retro design of these masterpieces,” the company says.

Fans can look forward to enjoying a host of updates including redrawn 2D pixel character and background graphics, featuring iconic character pixel designs from Kazuko Shibuya. They are also promising “beautifully rearranged soundtracks” that the original composer, Nobuo Uematsu, is overseeing.

Players can also expect “improved gameplay, including controller and touch controls, modernized UI, auto-battle options, and more.” In addition, the remasters will feature extras like the bestiary, illustration gallery, music player, and the ability to save at any time.

Release date and pre-order bonus

Those who pre-purchase Final Fantasy I, II, or III on Steam will receive two exclusive wallpapers, three music tracks, and a 20 percent discount for each title. The remasters for the first three games launch on July 27, 2021.

Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI

Square Enix also confirmed that Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI are getting the so-called “Pixel Remaster” treatment. However, these games are coming at a later date that has yet to be determined. Rest assured that we’ll let you know when we learn more!
