Final Fantasy XVI trailer showcases 'power of PS5'

Naoki Yoshida is bragging about how the latest Final Fantasy game will utilize the PS5.

Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida says that the game will fully utilize the power of Sony’s next-generation console, the PlayStation 5.

Yoshida made the statement during a livestreamed update for Final Fantasy XIV, the franchise’s MMORPG that remains popular with fans. Although the stream was in Japanese, our friends at Genki translated the broadcast.

Here’s what Yoshida had to say:

It’s all real-time rendering. No loading!

It’s become a game that is like, ‘Look at the power of the PS5!’

Yoshida is referring to the latest trailer for Final Fantasy XVI. That trailer debuted about two weeks ago during The Game Awards 2022. The trailer showed the game running in real-time on the PS5 hardware. None of it was pre-recorded cutscenes, according to Yoshida.
