Today, Epic Games confirmed that the massively popular Fortnite will be available at launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
The game coming to next-gen consoles will be “the same Fortnite you know and love” while taking advantage of new hardware. According to Epic Games:
While we can’t share specifics at the moment, more powerful hardware will allow us to improve performance and visuals. At launch, the version of Fortnite we release on next-gen consoles will be built with Unreal Engine 4.
The company says that it will migrate the game to Unreal Engine 5 in 2021. Also, they have confirmed that they will support cross-play with the new platforms while maintaining support for the old platforms. And don’t worry. You should be able to carry over your progress.
“We plan to support cross-progression across console generations and platforms so that your account, progression, and items carry over,” Epic says.
