Fox News Buys IGN

While it’s not politically correct to say Fox News bought IGN, the parent company of Fox News, News Corp., a media conglomerate with intentions of taking over the world, has bought IGN Entertainment and its network of websites, including TeamXbox.com, GameSpy.com, RottenTomatoes.com, and of course IGN.com, which covers all video game systems from the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, and the Xbox.

The acquisition is being made for approximately $650 million in cash. Just last month, News Corp. purchased the popular MySpace.com, a social networking website. News Corp. said the new deals, along with its existing sites, would increase its total U.S. web traffic to 70 million unique monthly hits, making it the fifth most trafficked network on the Internet.
