Frontlines: Fuel of War and MX Unleashed are free for Xbox Live Gold members

Microsoft appears to be giving away two additional free games this month as part of Xbox Live Games with Gold.
The first freebie is Frontlines: Fuel of War. It’s a first-person shooter that was released on PC and Xbox 360 back in 2008. Here’s a description of the game from the Microsoft Store product page:
Frontlines: Fuel of War is a military-themed infantry and vehicle based, open-world first-person shooter. The newly formed Red Star Alliance, led by Russia and China, clash with Western Coalition (U.S. & the European Union) forces over increasing energy shortages. This sets the stage for a massive conventional apocalypse pitting the biggest military powers against each other as they try to defend their interests and support their collapsing economies.
The other free game is MX Unleashed, which was released on the original Xbox. Microsoft previously revealed the Xbox Live Games with Gold January 2021 lineup. This month’s games include:
- Little Nightmares (January 1 to 31)
- Dead Rising (January 16 to February 15)
- The King of Fighters XIII (January 1 to 15)
- Breakdown (January 16 to 31)
It’s not clear why there are two additional free games this month for Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. It’s possible that the games were made free in error, so you may want to claim them right away!
