Frostpunk: The Board Game blows past Kickstarter goal within 54 minutes

Frostpunk: The Board Game Kickstarter

Fans must really want to get their hands on Frostpunk: The Board Game. The tabletop adaptation of the survival city-builder was fully funded on Kickstarter within an hour.

“It took exactly 54 minutes to reach the initial 200,000 Euro goal once the Kickstarter launched earlier today,” developer 11 Bit Studios announced. “In the upcoming days, additional backers will help to reach stretch goals that will add extra flavor to the experience. One of these goals is a one-of-a-kind companion app that allows distant players to enjoy multiple copies of the game together in a shared environment.”

At this point, the companion app is just a stretch goal. The companion app would allow you to play the game with friends remotely. However, they would also need their own copy of the board game in order to gain access to the app.

As we’ve previously mentioned, leading the effort are industry veterans Jakub Wiśniewski (This War of Mine: The Board Game) and Michał Ozon (former COO of Phalanx). Independent author Adam Kwapiński is assisting with the game’s story.

Frostpunk: The Board Game allows up to four players to take on the role of leaders of a small colony of survivors. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world after a severe ice age. It’s up to you to manage the colony’s citizens and infrastructures.

The Kickstarter campaign ends on Thursday, October 29. It is expected to ship in October 2021. The board game is based on the popular video game.
