Game of the Year Tournament Sweet Sixteen

Round 2 ended much like the way it started: with blowouts. Only two games managed to not win with a 60% majority of the total vote for a match, with no games having their win within less than 10 percentage points of the total vote. Most matches saw their winners win comfortably with 60, 70, or 80 percent of the vote, including Resident Evil 4 (GCN; 81.3%), Shadow of the Colossus (PS2; 76.9%), Call of Duty 2 (PC/Xbox 360; 81.8%), Mario Kart DS (Nintendo DS; 75%), Half-Life 2 (Xbox; 81.2%) and Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap (GBA; 76.5%).

Now that we are in Round 3 of the tournament, the Sweet Sixteen, matches should tighten. Matches to watch include today’s matchup of Resident Evil 4 and Meteos, Devil May Cry 3 vs. Gran Turismo 4, Shadow of the Colossus vs. Ninja Gaiden Black, Brothers in Arms vs. Call of Duty 2, God of War vs. Mario Kart DS, Burnout Revenge vs. Half-Life 2 (Xbox), Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow vs. Need for Speed Most Wanted and Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap vs. Sly 3.
