Glitchpunk is a mashup of GTA and cyberpunk

Glitchpunk

Riding the same wave that started with Cyberpunk 2077, Glitchpunk, a dystopian game similar in play style to the original Grand Theft Auto, will enter Steam Early Access soon.

Glitchpunk is a cyberpunk-themed game with an old-school Grand Theft Auto 2 vibe. It will include New Baltia as the game’s first playable city. Dark Lord, the game’s development team, assures us that the game will have roughly eight hours of playtime at launch and that more content will be available soon.

GTA 2 is the inspiration

Glitchpunk incorporates the finest of GTA‘s 2D aesthetic into a cyberpunk and dystopian universe, providing players with an unusual art style that combines 2D sprites in a 3D environment. The game is a top-down action game in which you shoot, brawl, drive, steal, and sneak your way through a neon-soaked world full of gangs and cults, forging alliances along the way.

Dark Lords’ new game isn’t just about blowing things up. It also tells a compelling story of transhumanism, xenophobia, and religion. You can have an impact on the world around you, make new friends, and face off against more foes than you can count – and maybe, just maybe, you can convert an enemy’s dislike into fondness.

New Baltia available day one, Outpost Texas on the way

In Glitchpunk, you play as a glitching robot defying your own programming and taking on the dystopian near-despotic government and megacorps in New Baltia. You are going to forge your own way across numerous cities teeming with drug-crazed gangs, hostile cops, and reckless drivers, all of which make each mission and replay unpredictable.

Glitchpunk‘s Early Access will begin with New Baltia on day one, followed by Outpost Texas in three to four weeks. During the Early Access period, two more cities will be added: Neo Tokyo and Moscow. While continuing the protagonist’s riveting narrative, each city has its own gangs and personalities.

Early Access release date

Glitchpunk is arriving on Steam Early Access starting on August 11, 2021.
