If you’ve been on the internet in the last few years, you’ll know what a phenomenon Among Us has been. Just like Pokémon GO, the game has hit a significant decline in daily players. It’s now averaging 10,000 total players per day. Although it seemed to be the leader of the genre, in the last week a new king has appeared as Goose Goose Duck active players just surpassed Among Us.
You may not have even heard of it. Goose Goose Duck is a free-to-play game on Steam. It has multiplied up to 70 times the average number of active players as Among Us. The game is a hit both on Steam as well as on streaming platforms such as Twitch and YouTube. You can also find it on Android and iOS, although this article focuses on the Steam version.
An unexpected success
In this genre of game, clearly Among Us has always been the standard. In fact, due to its ease of play and massification, the game is played in every country in the world. But Among Us is apparently no longer the king of the genre… Goose Goose Duck is!
Thanks to different streamers both on Twitch and YouTube, this game from Gaggle Studios has had remarkable growth since November 10th of last year. However, in the last five days, Goose Goose Duck has reached 702,845 total players! Even on SteamDB we can see that the game has maintained an average of 80k players throughout the day.
For those who don’t know, it’s a game that is almost exactly the same as Among Us. But its differential factor is that the characters are very absurd and funny birds that add a unique essence to the game. This is added to different factors such as the death animations, the tests, or how cross-eyed the characters are.
Despite all this, it remains to be seen how long this success will last. The games of this genre are known for being very ephemeral. Among Us is the only one that has remained successful for years. We are confident that the unique meme style of Goose Goose Duck will keep the game going for a long time to come – even more so as it is a free-to-play game!
