Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is free with new Rockstar Games Launcher

Rockstar Games is getting in on the publisher-specific game launchers. They’re giving away Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to fans who download it.

Pretty much every major third party publisher has its own PC game launcher. Rockstar Games Launcher joins Ubisoft’s Uplay, EA’s Origin, Blizzard’s Battle.net, and the Bethesda.net Launcher. And if you already have a Rockstar Social Club account, you won’t need a new account.

The Rockstar Games Launcher is pretty standard fare. It has a basic online storefront and your game collection. Upon installation, the launcher asks to scan your computer for currently-installed Rockstar titles. If you do, it’ll add them to your collection. Saves should also automatically transfer.

To be honest, prices are a bit steep. They want Bully: Scholarship Edition for $14.99, Max Pain 3: Complete Edition for $34.98, and L.A. Noire: Complete Edition for $29.99. Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City are $9.99 each.

I suspect that most of you are not going to want to download yet another game launcher for what’s currently available. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas doesn’t seem like much incentive either. Hopefully, as the platform matures, Rockstar will offer better deals.
