Halo 3 ODST Owners Report Disc Errors

GamePro is running an article on apparent issues with Halo 3 ODST. “Multiple users are reporting having trouble playing Halo 3: ODST on their consoles, with the game either skipping or sometimes not reading at all. The Bungie forums are busy with these reports, but it looks like the majority of players are able to play the game. For some who have the space, installing the game to the hard drive seems to be a common problem-solver,” GamePro writes.

Microsoft has released an official statement by the way of Eurogamer: “We are aware of a very small number of people who are reporting they can’t play the game. We are looking into it, but at this point it doesn’t appear to be a widespread issue,” Microsoft said. The Bungie forums are abuzz with activity as over 71 pages worth of comments on the issue saturate their website.

Eurogamer describes the error in more detail, saying that: “The disc-read error occurs on some Xbox 360s during the Halo 3: ODST’s campaign, rendering the game unplayable from thereon out. Other games including Halo 3 are reportedly affected as collateral, and there are even mentions of the machine itself taking a nosedive following the error.” Having a problem with your copy?
