Halo 3: ODST Ships Across America

One of the most highly anticipated games of the year, Halo 3: ODST, releases today. As most gamers know, it’s a break from the norm for the Halo series. Master Chief is nowhere to be found. You play as a rookie on the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper spec ops team. It’s a very interesting concept, and could quite possibly see it’s own saga just like it’s big brother.

New to the series is the much discussed Firefight Mode, which is essentially Horde Mode from Gears Of War 2 but with the Halo gameplay. Wave after Wave of Covenant troops, added to the difficulty of not being Master Chief, makes for a very rough challenge that may very well be one of the most addicting of it’s game type across all games.

The midnight launch at my Gamestop was pretty disappointing. However, I have seen other events on the net and they seemed to be almost as huge as Halo 3. With a invitation to the Halo: Reach beta, and all 24 DLC maps on one disk, Halo 3: ODST looks to be a great value, a great addition to the story and multiplayer of the original Halo 3. After two years, the game needs some refreshment.
