Horizon Zero Dawn has been out for five years now. Horizon Zero Dawn was a Guerrilla Games project that appeared incredibly ambitious at first but, owing to the studio’s considerable expertise, demonstrated that it would exceed all gamers’ expectations.
A new historical milestone
With the release of Horizon Forbidden West just around the corner with the company teasing cinematics, Sony wants to pay tribute to the first game. Horizon Zero Dawn has now sold more than 20 million copies throughout the world. The game also has over a billion play hours. It’s a watershed moment in the history of video games for a relatively new franchise.
Sony’s numbers are from November 28, 2021; sales of PlayStation 4 and PC are taken into account. After a few months, the sum will be slightly higher. Sony also revealed that users had logged over a billion hours of gameplay, demonstrating Guerrilla Games’ outstanding effort.
