How to transfer save data from PS4 to PS5

You can access the settings menu by selecting the PlayStation button on your controller and selecting Settings. Once you’re in the settings menu, select Save Data & Game/App Saves. Once on this screen, scroll down to Saved Data Management and select it.

It looks like this:

  • Select Settings.
  • Select Save Data and Game/App Settings.
  • Select Saved Data Management.

Select Saved Data

We must emphasize this small step when transferring your save data. First, when you transfer save data from PS4 to PS5, it’s important that you select the specific data you want to transfer. Make sure that your PS4 and PS5 are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. After selecting the game or application you want, choose your region and then press Transfer.

Choose Which Data to Copy

On your PS4, you’ll see a list of content that you have on your system. If there are apps that aren’t currently installed on the target device, they won’t display in this list until after you’ve installed them from PlayStation Store.

Then, when you’re sure what you are going to move to your new console, you must select either “Copy” or “Move” depending on what you want to do with it. Please note that this is very important, if no other device is connected as a source for transferring saved files/data then “Move” will be greyed out.

If you follow these steps carefully, you should have a better understanding of how to transfer saved data from PS4 to PS5. All in all, this process is quite straightforward and shouldn’t take more than an hour or two depending on how many games/apps you want to move over.
