What’s meant by cross-platform support is the ability of a game or an application to run on multiple different platforms. Being able to run on various operating systems, for example. When a game is cross-platform, it can run on different consoles like the PlayStation and the Xbox as well as the PC.
Is Dying Light 2 Cross-Platform?
The simplest answer to this question is yes. Dying Light 2 has cross-platform functionality and it is available on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
But does it support Cross-play? Cross-play is the ability for players to play the game online and co-operatively on multiple platforms, like the Xbox and the PC, for example.
Dying Light 2 Cross-play
Cross-play is the ability for you to play the game with your friends on another platform altogether, in multiplayer and co-op game modes. For example, with cross-play support, you’d be able to play Dying Light 2 co-op or multiplayer with a friend who plays the game on a PlayStation console or an Xbox.
At launch, Dying Light 2 did not have cross-play capabilities and if you wanted to play co-op and multiplayer, you were restricted to the same platform. For example, you can only play co-op with another player who’s on a PC, if you yourself is on a PC.
Unfortunately, we still don’t have cross-play support yet with Dying Light 2, but there are reasons for us to believe that the developers may actually enable us to play with our friends on different platforms in the future with cross-play support. It was only unavailable at launch and the developers actually have said that they will incorporate this much-needed feature into their game at some point.
Cross-gen platform
With a recent update, the developers made cross-gen capabilities possible. That means now you can play with a friend who may use a PS4 if you yourself play the game on a PS5. The same goes for different Xbox console generations.
